It was on October 18, 1984 that he was born as Benjamin Schneider in the United States. He was raised in Michigan with his three siblings. Growing up, he was a very creative child who possessed the talent for music and painting.
With his eyes fixed on music more than painting, he started writing songs when he was much younger. In fact, he grew up in a music-loving family with a father who owned a guitar. When he arrived in college, then in high school, he played in the orchestra.
Ben Schneider was educated in his hometown where he started writing songs, then at the University of Michigan, where he studied visual arts. Nevertheless, it was in France that he completed his studies and obtained his diploma. He once worked as a painter so he could pay his bills when he was still in school.
After leaving France, Ben moved to New York and then Los Angeles where he began his career in full. In 2010, he created Lord Huron, which was then his personal project. The group takes its name from Lake Huron, a place where Ben spent a lot of time growing up.
By 2012, the project had expanded to a band of members, including Mark Barry, his childhood friend since he was five as drummer, Tom Renaud as guitarist, then Miguel Briseno as bass player. By then the band had already begun to make a name for themselves for their evocative sound.
The band’s debut album Rêves solitaires was released in 2012. This was followed much later in 2015 with the release of Sentiers Étranges which, like the first, was under the Iamsound label. In 2018, he released Vide Noir with the band under the republic label. The album contains 12 songs including Wait by the River, one of Obama’s best discoveries of 2018.

A few months before the couple tied the knot at the family’s cabin on Lake Huron, the singer traveled to Japan with her then-fiancée to seek the blessing of her grandmother who lived in Wakayama, in the Kansai in Japan. Sacha is of Japanese and American descent.
